Contempt of Court

Times of India reported today:

“The court on Thursday ordered notice to Anil Kumar Jha, Chief Electoral Office (CEO) to Karnataka, in a contempt petition. A division bench headed by Justice KL Manjunath, however, ordered deletion of the names of Chief Election Commissioner N Sampath and Bangalore Urban DC GC Prakash from the array of parties named in the petition. This after Krishna Dixit, counsel for Election Commission, told the court that there was no direction against them.

The complainants, Commander (Retd) PG Bhat and Lok Satta Party, claimed that despite high court’s December 11, 2012 order hasn’t been complied with directing the CEO, Karnataka to suo motu cognizance of errors in the Bangalore voters’ list and verify whether the deletions have been made properly.”
