On 14 March, Namma Bengaluru Foundation recognised my social work with an award under Citizen Individual category. I am grateful to the foundation and the citizens of Bangalore for bestowing this honour on me. The recognition was mainly for my work with Electoral Roll Management System (ERMS), exposing several malpractices and errors; and getting some of them corrected.
Prithvi Reddy and Sumir Hinduja inspired me to work on ERMS. PV Maiya has been encouraging and guiding me like an elder brother. Ashwin Mahesh and Harish Narasappa were of great help in moving the High Court of Karnataka to restore more than 10 lakh voters of Bangalore who were illegally deleted by the authorities. Kiran Majumdar, Mohandas Pai, Sridhar Pabbisetty, Revathy Ashok, Sharath Shroff, and others from B.PAC supported me. They tried to persuade CEO-KA, BBMP Commissioner, and various political leaders to act on the findings and improve the system. Young friends at SmartVote, spearheaded by Manas Kumar, trusted me and worked tirelessly over weekends to educate citizens on democratic responsibilities and register as voters.
Dr. Alok Shukla, Deputy Election Commissioner, believed in my work and supported me. Several interventions and improvement in ERMS were possible due to his trust in me. Dr. Quraishi, ex-CEC, endorsed my findings and recommended to ECI. Television and print media published some of my findings, making citizens aware of the issues.
In this journey, I have met a hundred wonderful people who have been great motivation. I have learnt a great deal from them all. The award strengthens my resolve to continue my work on ERMS.
