409 voters, forming 26.22% of the voter list for part 305 of Mahadevapura Assembly Constituency have been disqualified from being voters in the new electoral rolls published by CEO-KA on 11 Jan 2016.
As per Representation of the People Act, 1951, quoted by ECI, a person shall be disqualified for registration in electoral roll if he, (a) is not a citizen of India; or (b) is of unsound mind and stands so declared by a competent Court; or (c) is for the time being disqualified from voting under the provisions of any law relating to corrupt practices and other offenses in connection with election.
It is alarming that CEO-KA organisation has found such a large number of voters qualified to be disqualified as voters in a single part(booth). Strangely large number of voters are disqualified from eight other parts of Mahadevapura constituency. Parts and the count of disqualified voters in them are – 305: 409, 307: 338, 302: 212, 308: 189, 304: 179, 301: 156, 306: 151, 303: 130.
Total 1,922 voters have been disqualified from the constituencies of Bangalore. It will be interesting to know who among them are caught in corrupt electoral practices and who are of unsound mind. Or, is this a result of unsound practices of CEO-KA organisation?
